When you start to work on your garden there are a few things you need to be aware of. Garden landscaping is one of them and with a little knowledge on this subject you are sure to be happy with the garden you create. garden2009 008

To start with, garden landscaping is all about the work you put into making your garden look as beautiful as possible.

It doesn’t really matter whether you are working with the landscaping already in place or you are going to design a garden of your own from scratch, the whole thing about garden landscaping is the way in which the flowers, plants and whatever else you have in your garden look and act.

First of all you have to decide which kind of garden you would like to have.

Do you prefer the wild looking garden affording you the luxury of fewer limitations or would you rather go for a simple flower garden with a separated area of land put to one side for growing vegetables? IMG_3963

There are several different kinds of garden landscaping that you may consider. Some garden landscaping is very severe and cut and dried. Such gardens are likely to contain plantings far away from each other with either clean soil or a selection of rocks separating them.

These kinds of gardens need a keen eye to ensure plants do not grow where they are not supposed to. However, in less strictly set out gardens plants are often encouraged to run a little wild and stray from their boundaries.

Therefore, the first thing that you want to do when you start with your own garden landscaping is to take a look at your garden area and decide what you want.

If you want to have neat rows of vegetables and flowers, you can easily section out the areas where things grow, and make sure that it happens.

If you want to have a garden that is more wild and exciting, you can do so by planting many perennials and keeping track of where things come up. pink rose

There are other parts of garden landscaping that you should think about too. The use of rocks and stones will keep the garden looking tidy and fences will contain the things growing and help to maintain the appearance of the garden.

By making sure that everything has its place and using the right tools for the job in hand, a beautiful garden with super landscaping can be achieved and enjoyed with only a little hard work on your part.

The first Koi ever were grown by breeding carp fish such as the Asian and German Carp. After years of selective breeding, distinct color mutations started showing up.

It is at 1805 that the first design of koi fish is registered. Today, there are actually a lot of of color variations available. The popular colors we can find today are white, silver, yellow, orange, red, black, blue and green. Combined with the designs available, the possibilities are virtually endless.

Every noticeable pattern and color have their own names, which are actually as unique as the color they are referring to. Yet the preferred design are diversified by people in varied countries.

It is already known that people most often produce Koi in wamer American nations, Japan and Singapore. Koi can be bought at most local pet stores.

People can order koi fish, if the stores do not have stock on hand Ordering Koi has its rewards and disadvantages. You have more selections if you order Koi, since you do not have to pick from the stock on hand, but the disfavor lies in the fact that you will not be able to pick specific Koi. HIKARI UTSURI

Koi, unlike most other fish, will continue to grow until they reach their breeds dictated size, no matter the environment that they are in. Baby Koi can be found as small as 3 inches. Jumbo Koi have even been know to reach lengths of three feet or more. The most common size found is around two feet in length.

Koi are omnivorous fish, which means they will eat both meat and plants. This means that they have very versatile diet. Koi will eat pretty much about that you throw in the pond with them, doesn’t matter if it is good for them or not.

As Koi do not know what is bad and good for them, so you need to control their diet. Another possible problem is over feeding them.Again, Koi do not know when to stop eating, and weight issues may occur from overfeeding none nutritional foods.

The safest foods for Koi are what they can find in their ponds naturally, such as earthworms, but it doesn’t hurt to feed Koi treats such as Lettuce, bread, fruit, and veggies.

You should pay special care to the particular foods such as corn, beans, and grapes, as they contain an outer shell, that cannot be properly digested if swallowed by Koi. If you must feed this type of foods to your Koi, always remember to completely remove the outer casings before giving it to your Koi.

Koi are none-aggressive fish. This means that they are suitable to live with other fish such as goldfish or comets. The only issue you may find is smaller, less able fish may suffer from lack of food, as Koi are quick eaters.

Koi are so mellow that they have even been known to be trained to eat out of their owners hand. Koi do not have teeth, so you will not get bit if you decide to attempt to feed your Koi out of your hand.

Koi have been known to live up to 30 years under the appropriate conditions, so you buy a Koi, you must consider this. The oldest Koi ever known to history is a Japabese Koi, who was 233 years old when he died.

Summer is here and the backyard will become a haven for activities and games for children. And as the summer moves along the children may tire of their toys or need a break from their routine. Kids at Camp Long, 1954

You can easily construct a backyard play  gym that will add different activity to their schedule.

Ideas for a Backyard Play Gym

You could place plastic tubes around the backyard for children to climb through. Add interest to playing in the tubes by having some open with light showing thought and other dark, which would resemble a cave or other mysterious places.

Fabric tubes are another option for your backyard gym. These should be placed on grass or sand so children won’t hurt their knees when crawling through them.  By changing there location and placing some together and others apart you can create new adventures and games for the children to play.

Include a small climbing structure. I have used wooden crates stacked on each other or placed on their sides. Make sure this structure is not very high and is secure and will not move or tip over. It’s also best to locate this structure on wood chips, mats or a soft grassy area.

You may find if you use a larger create that the children turn it into a mini cabin or fort area.  Supply cloth or an old blanket that they can use to create an awning or canopy from the crate to a tree or another crate.

Blankets and clothesline can also be used for a makeshift tent or fort. Children have a wonderful imagination so expect to see quite a creation.

Find mats for outdoor playing. Children will be able to tumble and roll without getting hurt with the additional safety and padding of a mat. If your children are tumbling make sure the mats are in an open area away from trees, walls, stairs or buildings.

Swings can easily be added to a backyard. You can buy swings or a swing set or use an old inner tube or tire and hang from a secure rope from a tree branch. We always had a tire swing over by our picnic area. Place wood chips under the swing for a cushion if the child falls. swinging in silence

If you have young children you may want to add a baby swing with safety bars and a harness.

A small kiddie pool or water sprinkler can add water games that will be appreciated on a hot day.

And for a rest area or lunch after playing and running for few hours you may want to add a mini hammock, picnic table or table and chairs. If you place a waterproof box with hinges you can add a packet of paper, markers, coloring books and pencils for quiet relaxing activities.

The backyard should be a relaxing fun place for children to play and have fond memories of friends and family. With the addition of a backyard play gym you can add change and new games to the children’s play area.

With the increase in backyard swimming pools it more important than ever to think of pool safety. Many pool owners have at least one child and you also need to think about the neighborhood children who may be inquisitive and looking to adventure in your backyard.

If you are the owner of a pool, have children or live in an area where there are neighborhood children you may want to equip your pool with a fence. A fence isn’t just a popular pool accessory; it is a lifesaving device. And if a fence saves a life and deters a serious injury it is worth installing

In many areas of the United Sates, a pool fence is required either by the local townships or by state law. So before having a pool installed in your backyard, it’s best to check on any pool regulations and restrictions. Even if you weren’t planning on installing a pool fence, you may find out that you are required to.

A pool fence is considered a pool accessory. And you will discover that pool fences come in a wide variety of different designs, shapes, sizes and styles. This will give you the opportunity to match a fence with you backyard design and home.

When looking for a pool fence you can stop by your local pool supply store or shop online.  And as with any pool accessory purchase take you time and carefully compare price and quality of the fencing.

Available Pool Fencing Varieties

If you are looking for a study, dependable, and attractive looking fence, you may want to consider purchasing a metal fence. Metal fences are dependable, attractive, and sturdy and will last for a very long time.

Wood fences are attractive and very versatile in matching your colors and design of the backyard area. They do have a drawback of needing repairs every few years.

Mesh fences are a fairly new in pool accessories. They are becoming very popular because many are removable where as metal and wood fencing are more permanent. If you are only interested in using a pool fence for a short time you will benefit from purchasing a pool fence that can be taken down in a matter of minutes.

A pool fence will add an additional safety factor to your backyard pool particularly when you are not at home. By adding a pool fence you will be protecting your family, adding more privacy to your backyard and you will also be protecting yourself from being held liable in the event a tragic accident occurs.

You may also want to consider the additional safety added with a pool cover.

A backyard pool is meant to be enjoyed.  So add that extra feeling of safelty with a pool fence. And with all the fencing varieties available you will be able to add addtional beauty to your backyard oasis

If you are looking for a pool that blends into your backyard and creates that overall oasis feel, the in-ground pool is the answer. For those who can afford the extra expense the In-ground pool is more attractive and with landscaping becomes the focal point of the backyard. Waterfall feature at Pan Pacific Hotel KLIA

To keep your pool looking good the pool must be kept clean.

In-ground pools require different cleaning supplies than above ground pools and its best to familiarize yourself with all of the in-ground pool cleaning supplies that are available.

One of the easiest ways to learn about pool cleaning equipment and supplies is to talk with friends that own a pool in your area. They probably have product recommendations and stories of supplies that they were not fond of. Their experiences will give you a starting point on what to look for in cleaning supplies.

The Internet and local pool supply stores are also a great source of information for pool cleaning supplies. You may learn about products that do not work in your area or that have problems from your local pool supply store or neighborhood pool owner.

There are two types of pool cleaners, automatic and manual pool cleaners. Both styles of cleaners have advantages and disadvantages.

Automatic pool cleaners are popular because they save time.  In most cases, automatic pool cleaners work without your assistance. Chemicals may be used to clean your pool. Pouring the proper amount of the chemical cleaner into the pool when required will clean your pool easily, but because of their strength, it’s best to use chemical cleaners at a time when the pool will not be used for a while.

Pool vacuums are also available. There are vacuums available that only require that you turn them on. The vacuum will do the rest. There are also automatic pool vacuums that require assistance to clean the pool.

Manual pool cleaners and cleaning supplies are ideal for those who want to save money. It may take time to manually clean your in-ground pool but you will save money and if done properly the first time, the pool will not need cleaned for a while. Manual cleaning supplies are available online and in local pool supply stores or most hardware stores.

From personal experience I have found that its best to have both types of cleaning supplies on hand. An automatic pool vacuum for when you need the pool cleaned quickly and manual supplies for when the vacuums may not be working. If both cleaning varieties are on hand your pool will be ready to use at any time.

An in-ground pool in the backyard will add to family entertaining and backyard activities. They add beauty to a yard but you have to remember to clean them regularly to keep the water healthy and the pool beautiful.
